About Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall is a city in South Eastern Ontario with a population of about 45,640 people. The population of Cornwall, Ontario and the surrounding area is about 57,581. Cornwall, Ontario is located in the county of Stormont, and is the seat of the united counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry United Counties, located on the St. Lawrence River, as well as Highway 401 near the Ontario-Quebec border.

Cornwall is a booming city, in a great location for business! It is about 100 km south-east of Ottawa, Ontario (the capital of Canada), via Highways 417 and 138, and about 100 km west of Montreal (Province of Quebec's largest metropolis). Cornwall, Ontario also happens to be on the Canada-USA border, which are joined by the Seaway International Bridge.

Cornwall, Ontario is a very multicultural city! It is estimated that imigrants account for approximately 2% of Cornwall's population. Also, because Cornwall is so close to the Ontario-Quebec border, the city also features a very large francophone population. Cornwall is becoming more and more multicultural, and as such is quickly becoming known as a Microcosm of Canada because of its growing immigrant population, and the Awkesasne Mohawk Reserve which is located nearby on Cornwall Island.
